THE TWA BARDS
FLUTE FIDDLE HARP GUITAR VOCALS
Tradition Bearer: Don: Vocals, Guitar, Flute, Bodhran
Angela: Vocals, Flute, Fiddle, Whistles, Harp.
Don & Angela are The Twa Bards:
An engaging, entertaining musical conversation that brings history and its characters to life. Specialising in the music of Robert Burns, and complemented by original and traditional songs in the Scottish genre... bringing flavour to the brew… like whiskey & haggis, chilli & chocolate! Unique arrangements, rich vocal harmonies, song stories, duelling flutes and more… a showcase of inimitable sco’s-aussie style.
Don was taught Scottish history through songs and stories. A love of the work of Robert Burns was a big part of the aural tradition that was shared. He’s been performing those songs and adding to that collection ever since, winning solo singing competitions, and travelling with various bands.
Angela has classical roots that pretty quickly loosened up into folk and funk styles along the way. She cannot resist the charms of each instruments colour, and brings rich vocal harmonies.
The Twa Bards have developed thematic performances inspired by: ‘A Tribute to Robert Burns’.

SCO’S-AUSSIE FOLK
The Twa Bards have sunburned tartan hearts that time travel!
“May your pulse beat as your heart would wish!”
We love putting on concerts, and playing at festivals, art gallery events, house concerts, medieval & heritage fairs... and look forward to new opportunities as we emerge from our changed world into something new.
Over the last few years they have also developed and performed numerous
sound bath meditations, as part of Angela’s sound therapy study.

Of the dark past a child is born
with joy and grief my heart is torn
calm in his cradle the living lies
may love and mercy unclose his eyes
Young life is breathed on the the glass;
the world that was not comes to pass
a child is sleeping: an old man gone
o, father forsaken, forgive your son
Song written by Angela Preiss - sung by Tracey Newman
The Deil's Awa & A Rosebud By
A taste of two very different Robert Burns poems – music by The Twa Bards. Nature and Human Nature were ever present themes for The Bard.

What would happen if the wild rover got the blues? A favourite flute rambling foot tapper. You’ve never heard the wild rover like this before!
